digital cameras are a dime of a dozen, so how do you stand out from the sea of offerings? just take a piece of yesteryear camera and make it go digital. case in point: the Rolleiflex MiniDigi AF 5.0 digital camera. it is a full-fledge digital camera designed to look just like the original Rolleiflex 2.8F 6x6cm twin lens reflex camera of the 1920s, albeit being a whole lot smaller physically.

true to its analog predecessor, this novelty camera operates like one: users frame their shots by looking down into the 1.1-inch square LCD and each shot has to be readied by turning the handcrank on the side. photos taken are in square format too. a perfect replication of what we have missed since the 1920s. however, i do wish that it is more faithful to the original in terms of its physical size.

i wanted to think of it as a toy camera but the price does not speak much of a toy camera. costing $279 a pop for the red version and $329 for the black version, the Rolleiflex 24611 Mini Digi AF 5.0 Camera isn’t cheap for a 5-megapixel digital camera. however, if you undaunted by its pricing you can get yours from Amazon.
