Why cameras have to be in black? I don’t know. Perhaps, it is more discreet and makes the shooter looks more like a ‘pro’. Having color other than black or two many colors kind of make a camera look toy-like and unprofessional. The new Nikon COOLPIX W150 Digital Camera may comes in some rather awfully cheery colors, but they are not a toy.
As a matter of fact, it is pretty capable, full-fledged compact digital camera that boasts 13.2 million pixels sensor, paired to a 3x optical zoom NIKKOR lens. OK. It is a basic camera, but still, it is not a toy. But being this colorful, I am not surprise if your kids will be attracted to it. I guess that’s not a bad thing. I mean, getting them interested in photography early won’t hurt.
And being water-, shock-, cold- and dust-proof, it is totally suitable for use by children or just about anyone who have the constant nagging fear of damaging their snapper. Speaking of toughness, the camera is waterproof to 10 meters (33 feet), capable of sustaining falls from up to 1.8 meters (5.9 feet), and resists cold temperatures of down to -10 degrees Celsius (14 degrees Fahrenheit). So, this camera is pretty much rigged to deal with what life has to offer.
Other features include FHD movie recording with stereo sound at touch of a button, electronic vibration reduction to reduce camera shake, Dynamic Fine Zoom to capture up to 6x zoom without sacrificing resolution, Target Finding AF, dedicated modes that support underwater photography, multiple scene modes, built-in edition functions, support direct connection to SnapBridge via built-in WiFi and Bluetooth (yup, it has those too), Image Lock function to prevent accidental deletion of photos, smile activate shutter release, a simple and user-friendly GUI, matching pattern or color buttons, and a slightly curved form for comfortable hold even for small hands.
It also boasts a couple of features that will appeal to young users, including a thing called Exchange Messages where you will be to record and attach voice messages to photos, listenable by users other same camera users. There’s also a Grading function that allows users to rate or comment each other’s photos and movies. In addition to Blue and White, the Nikon COOLPIX W150 Digital Camera will also be offered in three new patterns: Resort, Flower, as well as Orange. Clearly, Resort is my go-to choice. Pricing and availability are yet to be confirmed.
