Nothing has established itself as an affordable, stylish brand that doesn’t skimp on features. Its phones are relatively inexpensive and sleek, as are its earphones. However, whether they are truly affordable is subjective; that said if you think $149 for a pair of Ear (2) earphones is a bit excessive, you might want to check out the new, less expensive Nothing Ear (a). The launch of the Ear (a) also introduces a striking new color: yellow. To be honest, it was the yellow Ear (a) that caught our attention.
Aesthetically, the Ear (a) is slightly more compact than both the Ear and Ear (2). It features a rectangular charging case that is approximately two-thirds the size of the square charging case used by the Ear and Ear (2). In addition to the standard Nothing black and white colors on a transparent design, the new TWS earbuds from this smartphone maker are also offered in a vibrant yellow colorway against a transparent background. The yellow adds a pop of freshness and exudes youthfulness.
Moreover, pairing the Ear (a) with Phone (2), and you will unlock the ChatGPT voice AI integration, allowing you to ask and receive all the questions and answers you need, whenever, wherever. Despite being much more affordable, the Ear (a) still boasts Nothing’s smartest-ever active noise cancellation and is Hi-Res Audio Certified. It includes everything the Ear (2) and Ear has to offer, with differences only in the dynamic driver material and the lack of features such as LHDC 5.0, advanced equalizer and profile sharing, personal sound profile, and wireless charging.
Although the charging case is more compact and the buds are slightly smaller, this new product actually has a longer battery life. It boasts up to 9.5 hours of use without ANC and up to 42.5 hours with the case. It also supports fast charging, providing 10 hours of use with just 10 minutes of charging. The earbuds are IP54-rated for dust and water resistance, and the case is IPX2-rated.
