In this rat race, you may be slowly but surely suffocated by work. You may be so overloaded, day after day, that you are working yourself to death in the name of working for your future. The Last Shift Office Chair by Chair Box Design was designed to remind us how sitting for long hours at work is bad for our health as revealed by a recent study.
Long story short, Chairbox designed a coffin chair to symbolize how some of us may be driven to death by work. The chair, aptly called The Last Shift Office Chair, started as a concept last year and it is now slowly becoming a real product. That’s right, my friends. There is going to be a coffin chair!
In the concept, Chair Box Design gave the chair the usual five-spoke caster base but in this final product, he decided to go with a heavy steel base for stability. And the coffin is now more eerily realistic, complete with gold – presumably – metal hardware for the coffin handles – but it does without the bottom panel to allow the legs to be grounded. After all, you are not really dead, yet.
Chair Box Design recently shared the final photos of The Last Shift Office Chair and announced that it will be offered in three choices of mulberry velvet and that kvadrat textiles will be added later on.
