You can’t call yourself a true fan of the original Star Wars trilogy if you didn’t know that C-3PO‘s lower right leg was actually silver, not gold like the rest of his body. To be fair, you’d be forgiven if you didn’t know this. After all, the picture quality of the ’70s made it hard to tell.
According to the actor Anthony Daniels, the leg appears to be gold due to the silver reflecting the gold of the other leg. The gold appearance on screen was further fueled by the reflection of the gold of the desert sand where C-3PO often appeared. In fact, it is the most accurate representation of the beloved protocol droid that money can buy. What makes it even more impressive is that it is a 1:1 scale. The figure, which stands at 6’ 2” (1.88 meters), features all the details seen on screen including the signature shining gold exterior, detailed weathering, a silver right leg, and multicolored wiring in the abdomen.
It may look like a statue—and it very well may be—but it has posable arms. The arms are articulated at the shoulder joints and can be rotated to various degrees to change up his posture, from etiquette-ready to a startled pose.
Additional details include a magnetic restraining bolt on his torso which can be removed, a randomized voice track feature activated with the included remote, and light-up eyes that can be activated via a button on the back of his head.
