It will be nice to see a driveable, real-life version of the Porsche 911 as seen in Pixar’s animated movie Cars. Clearly, that won’t happen and so, the 2022 Porsche 911 ‘Sally Special’ Car you see here is the closest you will ever get to driving that cartoon character.
Based on the 911 Carrera GTS which is powered by a 473 HP twin-turbo flat-six engine and mated to a 7-speed manual gearbox, the 2022 Porsche 911 ‘Sally Special’ Car may not look exactly like its movie counterpart but it has loads of subtle references to dear old Sally.
First and foremost, it is painted in Sallybluemetallic, a custom paint that was hand-applied just for this project. And then there is, of course, Sally’s tattoo, and her Turbo-look rims which were reinterpreted by Style Porsche designers in Weissach and manufactured especially for the 911 Sally Special.
The Sallybluemetallic is being employed in the interior too, which also boasts special Pepita houndstooth fabric upholstery in three colors, combined with chalk-colored leather and stitching in Speed Blue.
Cars and Sally Special brandings can be throughout the car, including on the dash, indicating that it is a one-of-one car, as well as a beautifully embossed logo on the inside door panels.
Then there is the “Kachow! Mode” sticking out of the black leather with Speed Blue stitching which is Sally’s way of saying Sport Response button. Cute.
The 2022 Porsche 911 ‘Sally Special’ Car will be auctioned by RM Sotheby’s on Saturday, 20 August during Monterey Car Week in California. Open to all U.S. citizens. All proceeds from the auction will benefit Girls Inc. and USA for UNHCR, the UN Refugee Agency.
In addition, there is also a unique chronograph by Porsche Design, also created in collaboration with Pixar. This one-of-the-kind timepiece features a colored ring in Sallybluemetallic, chalk-colored leather strap with Speed Blue stitching.
The watch is powered by a COSC-certified Porsche Design wEK 01.100 movement and features a limited edition marking on the case back. An extra Speed Blue strap with chalk-colored stitching will be supplied with the watch.
The timepiece is engineered and made at Porsche’s own watchmaking facility in Solothurn, Switzerland. That’s not it.
Accompanying the car is a special indoor car cover from Porsche Tequipment, a wheel rack with an additional wheelset consisting of Carrera Exclusive Design wheels, a book on the development and production of the one-off model, and original drawings by designers Shuichi Yamashita and Bob Pauley. That’s a lot of stuff for a single auction.
If only the car looked exactly like Sally Carrera in Cars then it would be perfect. I mean, complete with the eyes and all. Anyhoo, you can learn more about the listing on RM Sotheby’s website.
