Oukitel WP1000 Titan Rugged Smartphone

Ever have the desire to use your phone as a hammer? I know, no one has. But what if—just what if—I told you that you could? You could if the phone is the Oukitel WP100 Titan Rugged Smartphone. That’s right. Oukitel is back with another rugged smartphone. This time, it bears a look that screams, “I dare you to destroy me!”

Also this time, it does not have a fancy second screen. Instead, it packs a huge flashlight on its back, turning it into a camping light—complete with a carrying handle. Wait, didn’t we see that somewhere? That’s right. It was the 8849 Tank 3 Pro, which also had a massive flashlight panel slapped onto its back. And like the 8849 Tank 3 Pro, the WP100 also features a built-in projector and a massive battery. In fact, it one-ups 8849’s beast; it has a colossal 33,000 mAh battery! This makes it the world’s first 33,000 mAh battery rugged smartphone.

With 33,000 mAh, you’d be going for weeks—not days—before needing to recharge. We are talking about an unholy 4,459 hours of standby time, 289 hours of talk time, 150 hours of camping light usage, or 49 hours of video playback for those who have no friends to talk to. Speaking of movies, you can watch them on a large, flat surface, thanks to the 100-lumen DLP projector. 100 lumens isn’t the brightest, but it should be ample for outdoor movie nights in the wild. A 130 dB high-volume speaker completes your outdoor movie theater experience. Meanwhile, the flashlight is super bright, boasting a maximum brightness of a blinding 1,200 lumens.

Other rugged details include IP68/IP69K water and dust resistance and a super tough build that goes beyond just sustaining a 1.5 m drop. Oukitel says the device is “MIL-STD-810H” certified. Rounding up the I-am-oh-so-tough and I-will-survive feature list are an SOS button, a PTT button, the ability to survive in 1.5 meters of water for up to 30 minutes, and the capability to operate in temperatures from -20°C to 55°C.

Beyond the wild, fit-for-outdoor, or even post-apocalypse situation features, the Oukitel WP100 Titan is a fairly regular smartphone powered by a MediaTek Dimensity 7300 5G chip featuring an octa-core processor with a 2.5 GHz clock speed, paired with an ARM Mali-G615 GPU and bolstered by 16 GB RAM with 512 GB of onboard storage. It is outfitted with a 120 Hz 6.8” FHD+ (2,460 x 1,080) display, and it is ready to capture your adventures in the wild—be it day or moonless nights—thanks to a 200 MP main camera and a 20 MP infrared night vision camera, in addition to a 2 MP macro camera. It also has NFC, plus support for Face ID as well as fingerprint unlock (side-mounted).

Finally, it has a convenient hand strap that lets you carry this tough guy like, ermmm, a radio? Oh, wait, we are not done yet. The device touts 66 W fast charging and can serve as a power bank for your other small devices, including imaging drones, offering up to 18 W reverse charging. With its enormous battery, charging takes a while despite its 66 W speed; it will take four and a half hours to go from 0 to 100%.

Naturally, a rugged phone ain’t small and light. This thing is a chunky 178.3 x 84.3 x 35.6 mm and weighs in at a super-dense 876.6 g! Holy mother… anyway, if you are down, the Oukitel WP100 Titan Rugged Smartphone is currently being funded on Kickstarter, where you can secure a unit for 5,049 HKD (about 650 USD) or more. The campaign has already met its funding goal, attracting over 800 backers with more than half a million in funding.
