Good news, non-Playstation users and avid PC gaming enthusiasts, August 30 marks the day when you will have even more games to play – thanks to the announcement of Playstation Now PC streaming availability. With the Playstation Now subscription, which cost $99.99 for a 12-month period, you will have access to over 400 PS3 games, including “Playstation exclusives, greatest hits, acclaimed masterpieces, and games for the whole family.” Naturally, you will need to have a reasonable high-performance desktop or laptop to fully enjoy the games, and also, you are going to need a controller such as the DualShock 4, wired or wireless.
If you are going wireless, you will need the recently announced DualShock 4 USB wireless adapter that will allow your computer to talk to the DS4 controller. In addition, to lure existing subscriber further into the Playstation Now lair, Sony Computer Entertainment is offering this group the ability to stack the 12-month sub offer to their current subscription so they can enjoy the savings too. And if you are not in the circle yet, the gaming giant wants to entice you to join the community of gaming zombies with a 7-day free trial. The as a trial user, you will also get the same access to the 400 plus games available to regular Playstation Now subscribers.
Sounds like a good opportunity to give it a go and see if you like it or not, or in my case, it is an chance to evaluate if my shitty computer can take the processing and graphics punishment. Probably not (almost like guaranteed not, really). I am just too stingy to drop money on computer upgrades, much less buying a more powerful rig to deal with crazy requirement of today’s games.
