Nereide GMT Dive Watch

Italian watchmaker Meccaniche Veneziane has launched its first Swiss Made GMT watch, Nereide GMT Dive Watch, featuring the watchmaker’s characteristic design and a new complication powered by ETA 2893-2 Swiss Movement. Yup. It’s GMT and it is a dive watch! So freaking cool! Clearly, it is the timepiece both watch aficionados and avid divers love because, the watch’s 15,000 euro campaign goal on Kickstarter is met in 30 seconds! Holy mother… that was super fast and it shows no sign of stopping; it is 2,000 percent funded in under 180 minutes.

If you ask me, the looks played a huge part in drawing the crowd. Just look at this thing. It is a beauty regardless of the color. Though personally, I have eyes for eye-catching Diaspro which sports the very classical dive watch’s blue/red bezel. The movement is worthy of a mention too, but instead of regurgitating the official words, we let the official words do the talking:

“Our watches are powered by a decorated ETA 2893-2 movement, which is universally regarded as a remarkable example of technological advancement. As a matter of fact, it’s hugely employed by the most renowned firms in the field of horology. It’s a mechanical luxury movement with automatic winding, hacking seconds, dual time-zones with 24 hours and a power reserve of 42 hours.”

There are several colors to pick from, but regardless of models, you can expect a 42 mm 316L stainless steel case, the aforementioned Swiss ETA 2893-2 decorated rotor, diamond cut hand and indexes, Swiss Superluminova treatment, anti-reflective dome sapphire glass, unidirectional 120-minute graduated bezel, 22 mm lug width (49 mm lug-to-lug), made in Italy real vintage leather strap, screw down crown, and water resistant to 20 ATM (200 meters, or about 656 feet).
