Earlier this month, the purveyor of blind boxes, POP MART, decided to make collectors’ wallets weep in celebration of International Women’s Day (March 8) and Barbie’s birthday (March 9) with the POP MART Barbie Style Icon Series Figures. This collection features 9 miniature Barbie dolls, each decked out in outfits from different eras, plus a mystery figure for the truly lucky.
The lineup includes the OG 1959 Barbie rocking her iconic black and white swimsuit, the 1962 Silken Flame Barbie, 1975 Skier Barbie, 1985 Day-to-Night Barbie, 1992 Totally Hair Barbie, 1996 Jewel Hair Mermaid Barbie, 2001 Jam n’ Glam Barbie, 2018 Ballet Wishes Barbie, and 2022 Barbie Extra. If fate (and your blind box luck) is on your side, you might just land the 1995 Happy Birthday Barbie hidden in the mystery box.
While we didn’t spot this collection on POP MART’s global webstore, it is available on POP MART Singapore’s website for S$15.90 (~US$12) per box or S$143.10 (~US$107) for a case of nine—which guarantees 9 different designs but doesn’t promise the elusive mystery figure. And here’s a fun twist: while most POP MART blind boxes include POP CARDS, it looks like only those sold in China will get them. So if you were hoping for an extra little collectible card, you might have to book a flight.
