This is the Ram 1500 Revolution Battery-electric Vehicle Concept, Ram’s answer to Ford F-150 Lightning and Rivian R1T electric pickup trucks, and it is looking, well, very Ram. You know it is a Ram but more futuristic, and it is (futuristic), starting with an all-new face of Ram that includes animated and modernized “R-A-M” badging and animated full LED “tuning fork” headlight design.
The Ram 1500 Revolution Battery-electric Vehicle Concept has doors with a grand saloon-style opening that opens to reveal a cavernous interior with no B-pillar to get in the way. Speaking of the interior, it is configurable – thanks to the removable center console with a fold-flat surface. Also on the inside, it boasts an industry-first feature third-row jump seats.
The Ram 1500 Revolution may look like a regular full-size pickup truck but it can fit objects way longer than its bed. The powered mid-gate features mounted jump seats with a removable lower section that allows for multiple flexible seating configurations and enables a pass-through (and into the frunk) that can fit objects up to 18 ft. long (5.5 meters). I think that is just about the coolest feature of an electric truck we have seen thus far.
The concept is built on a new STLA Frame body-on-frame architecture designed specifically for full-size electric vehicles and incorporates the battery pack efficiently with full underbody aero panels and an active diffuser. Not a lot of spec sheet details were offered when the vehicle was unveiled at CES 2023.
While we do know that it is powered by two electric drive modules (EDMs) and features all-wheel-drive capability, we do know the performance numbers and the battery pack. However, we do know that it will support 800V DC fast charging at up to 350 kW, allowing it to add up to 100 miles (161 km) of range in around 10 minutes. And oh, it also has four-wheel steering with up to 15 degrees of articulation.
A production model is expected in 2024.
