It’s been a couple of years since EssilorLuxottica’s Ray-Ban and Meta first teamed up to create the Ray-Ban Stories smart glasses. Now, in September 2023, Meta is back with a follow-up called the Ray-Ban Meta Smart Glasses. These redesigned smart glasses offer enhanced audio and cameras, boasting over 150 customizable frame and lens combinations. They are also lighter and more comfortable.
But that’s not all; these smart glasses let you livestream to Facebook or Instagram and interact with Meta’s advanced conversational assistant, Meta AI, using just your voice by saying the trigger words “Hey Meta.” They are slimmer, water-resistant (IPX4), and come with improved touchpad and interaction earcons for faster and more reliable responses.
Some key features include custom-designed speakers with 2x more bass, higher maximum volume (50% louder), improved directional audio, a new 12 MP camera, 1080p video recording for up to 60 seconds, direct photo sharing with a voice command, the Qualcomm Snapdragon AR1 Gen1 Platform, and a redesigned charging case offering up to 8 additional charges for a total of 36 hours of use. This case is also slimmer and smaller.
As for aesthetics, these smart glasses are available in timeless Wayfarer and the new Headliner design, both in Matte Black and Shiny Black, plus three new transparent frame colors: Jeans, Rebel Black, and Caramel, offering a glimpse of the tech inside. They are compatible with prescription lenses.
The starting price for the Ray-Ban Meta Smart Glasses is US$299, and you can pre-order them now on meta.com and ray-ban.com. They will be available online and offline starting on October 17, 2023.
