American shaver maker Schick in Japan has officially boarded the Evangelion hype train (again). Commemorating the new Evangelion movie (which has since been postponed) is the Schick Hydro 5 EVA Model line of razors.
This is not the first time Schick and Evangelion come together for co-branded products, though. It is actually the 4th collaboration.
For this 2020 collaboration, there are altogether three models: EVA Unit-01, EVA Unit-02, and NERV – the counter-alien operation command. The last one there comes as a surprise. As I would have expect EVA Unit-00, but no, it isn’t.
The NERV themed Hydro 5 shaver features a grey colorway with red accents which does not quite stand out if you ask me. The other two are, as expected, bearing their respective colorways.
The Schick Hydro 5 EVA Model Shavers are sold as shaver-only, shaver + Evangelion-themed carrying/storage container, and an Amazon Japan exclusive that comes with EVA-themed razor stand and the carrying/storage container.
Spare blades of the respective themed razors are also available. And strangely, you will get the respective EVA-themed ring for cellphone with purchase of the spare blades.
Schick Hydro 5 EVA Model Shavers are available in stores in Japan, but for how much is unknown to us. However, we do know the Amazon exclusive is selling on Amazon Japan for 3,000 Yen (or approximately US$28).
