Sega Genesis Mini Video Game Console

Wait. What? The fad of miniaturizing video game console of the bygone era hasn’t die down yet? Well, apparently not. Following the many companies doing it and after its Sega Mega Drive Mini, Sega is dishing out yet another: the Mega Drive’s North America counterpart, Sega Genesis Mini Video Game Console. First announced in April last year, the tinier, brand new reboot of the iconic 16-bit console is finally available for pre-order at Walmart, priced at $79.99.

You probably want to pre-order it, just in case it fly off the shelves, even though the actual availability is far into 2019 on September 25, 2019 and pre-orders will ship starting September 19, 2019. I am not saying that it will definitely a sell out, but there is chance it may. In any case, if you are a mega fan, you would not want to take any chance, do you?

Sadly though, like many miniaturization like such, you won’t get the gratification of loading cartridge into the machine. Instead it is pre-loaded with 40 legendary games, which will be announced in four waves of 10 games. The first wave of games include familiar titles like Sonic the Hedgehog, Ecco the Dolphin, Castlevania: Bloodlines, and Altered Beast – just to name a few.

Obviously, these games will be far from the sleek, smooth games we have today (even though it promised “high definition graphics), but it is definitely going to inject a shot nostalgia in anyone who grew up during the video game console war era. Anyways… so now you know.
