Is it worth developing your own voice-control platform for TWS earbuds? Apparently, Skullcandy thinks so. Last week, the trendy headphones maker unveiled its all-new, voice-control platform called, Skull-iQ Smart Feature Technology.
The new voice-control platform will debut in two new true wireless earbuds, Grind Fuel and Push Active True Wireless Earbuds. So what is Skull-iQ? Well, it is essentially a built-in voice-control feature for the earbuds, allowing you to go completely hands-free by issuing audio commands to a device’s personal voice assistant.
It is like Google Assistant but just for earbuds-related controls without additional setup. You’d be surprised that most earbuds, even for most high-ends examples, don’t have their own voice control. Activating it is as simple as saying “Hey Skullcandy”.
With Skull-iQ you can play or pause content, accept or reject calls, turn on Stay-Aware Mode for enhancing safety, et cetera. With this technology, it also boasts the first-ever voice-activated Spotify Tap access that allows voice-activated access to Spotify.
Another highlight of the Skull-iQ Smart Feature Technology is, it enables over-the-air updates via the Skullcandy app, thus allowing users to enjoy new features as they become available.
