Sol Reader Wearable eReader

If you are an avid reader who dreamed of poring over your favorite titles without distractions, well then, your dream is about to come true thanks to a new kind of wearable. You heard that right. Wearable. eReader. And wearable Reader is exactly what the Sol Reader is.

Presented like a VR/MR headset, Sol Reader has e-ink displays instead of colorful OLED displays. The e-ink displays are paired with pancake lenses to create a virtual screen that offers 300 ppi and supports 16 levels of grayscale. Under the hood, it has a modest 240 Hz dual-core chip and 8 MB of RAM.

The Sol Reader is designed to let you focus on reading, blocking out any external noise and light. Other features include an adjustable silicone nose bridge, a light sensor that automatically adjusts the screen to the ambient light, side-lit warm white LEDs that recreate the warmth of printed pages, an adjustable diopter with a wide range that negates the need to wear contacts or glasses, and up to 25 hours of battery life on a single charge.

At just 104g, it is worn more like a pair of eyewear than an actual goggles or VR headset. It does not have a head strap, btw. Besides, reading isn’t a violent activity that will risk the headset falling off anyways. The device comes with a sleek, matte black remote that automatically pairs with the Sol Reader via Bluetooth, allowing you to advance the page, save bookmarks, or adjust the display settings.
