unlike smartphones, the choice of camera to buy is not always obvious cos’ we are constantly being assaulted by myriad of options. it’s like, just when you thought you wanted to settle on brand X, brand Y comes along and offers one that is as good, if not better. speaking of which, Sony has just put on the table a new compact to its NEX line that promised to offer full DSLR experience in a pocketable package. dubbed the Sony NEX-6 Compact Camera System, the camera features a 16.1-megapixel Exmor APS-C sensor matched to the BIONZ image processor, fast hybrid AF, interchangeable lens compatible with E-mount lens system (A-mount lenses are doable but requires optional adaptor), ISO range of up to 25,600, full HD 1080 video recording, a tilt-able 3.0-inch wide screen TFT LCD, an OLED Tru-Finder electronic viewfinder (EVF), up to 10 fps continuous burst shooting, built-in pop-up flash, Memory Stick PRO/SD card slot, and a battery life for around 360 still images with LCD but drops to around 270 if EVF is utilized. oh, and it is WiFi enabled too, enabling you to wirelessly transfer your stills to a smartphone or tablet running on Sony’s free PlayMemories Mobile app or share them on Facebook. pretty sweet, eh? coming to you in November 2012, as a kit with SELP1650 power zoom lens for around $1,000 or body-only for $850. the SELP1650 itself retails for $350 but that will only available in January. so, the choice is pretty obvious if the Sony NEX-6 is the camera of choice for you. click through for a few more look.
