Did you asked for a new Space Jam movie? No? Yes? Well, whatever it is, “Space Jam 2”, officially called Space Jam: A New Legacy, is hitting the theaters soon anyways.
Like the original which stars Michael Jordan, Space Jam: A New Legacy is a live-action/animated movie that features stars from the Warner Bros.’ properties, as well as the King, LeBron James.
Also like the original film, the King has to team up with wacky and undisciplined Looney Tunes characters to take on the super squad called Goon Squad – the equivalent of the original flick’s Monstars.
Here’s what the film is about:
“When LeBron and his young son Dom are trapped in a digital space by a rogue A.I., LeBron must get them home safe by leading Bugs, Lola Bunny and the whole gang of notoriously undisciplined Looney Tunes to victory over the A.I.’s digitized champions on the court: a powered-up roster of professional basketball stars as you’ve never seen them before. It’s Tunes versus Goons in the highest-stakes challenge of his life, that will redefine LeBron’s bond with his son and shine a light on the power of being yourself. ”
And here’s the trailer:
I am not a fan of Space Jam, but it is part of the pop culture that I grew with and so, in some ways, I am somewhat excited. Looking at the trailer, it could be worth the watch for the King himself and also for 2020/2021’s CGI.
Also, it does not appear to have a sex symbol this time round and that is a good thing because, Jessica Rabbit was just so wrong for a movie of such nature, IMHO.
Space Jam A New Legacy will arrive at theaters and on HBO Max on July 16, 2021.
