Strike Industries SMC-90 chassis installed on FN P90

You may not be a gun nut to know what the FN P90 from Belgian weapon manufacturer FN Herstal is. But you will be familiar with this weapon if you have played PUBG or PUBG Mobile. It is a fun-to-use, powerful submachine gun in the game—yes, I insist it’s an SMG (though it’s kind of a hybrid), not a so-called Personal Defense Weapon. Pffft.

Anyhoo, in real life, this gun is far from perfect. But it’s a popular weapon, and so it was only a matter of time before someone gave it an upgrade. Well, upgrade it, Strike Industries did. Folks, meet the Strike Industries SMC-90 for FN P90 and PS90.

Yes. I know, right? That thing in the photos here looks nothing like the P90, and that is the beauty of it. Aesthetically, this drop-in replacement system gives the 35-year-old design a futuristic makeover. But clearly, it goes beyond the straight-out-of-sci-fi-movies look.

This chassis addresses some of the shortcomings of the original SMG. It refines the grip angle, solving the awkward ergonomics of the original, and it now features an adjustable cheek rest as opposed to the original’s basic cheek weld. It also enhances modularity—not that the original had much to speak of, just saying.

As far as modularity goes, this upcoming system for the P90/PS90 adds a generous number of M-LOK slots and MIL-STD-1913 Picatinny rails for your laser, flashlight, foregrip, and whatnot. That brings us to cables, which it will inevitably have if you’ve added electronics to a P90 or PS90. The Strike Industries SMC-90 has those covered, literally. It features an internal routing system to reduce snagging risks and keep the firearm looking neat.

Moreover, the system also touts integrated sling mounts for both single- and dual-point sling setups. All told, this cool kit pairs a polymer chassis with an aluminum handguard. Best of all, it retains the ambidextrous design of the original SMG.

Clearly, not everyone has the opportunity to own an actual PS90, let alone a P90. Apparently, there will be an airsoft version, too.

The Strike Industries SMC-90 for FN P90 and PS90 is expected to launch in early 2026. As for pricing, it is not clear. Apparently, the PS90 version is expected to sell at US$249.95, though we are not sure if that price is firm or just a placeholder.
