Montegrappa Game of Thrones WESTEROS Fountain Pen: All-In-One Houses Writing Instrument

The old adage ‘the pen is mightier than the sword’ was probably a statement made to avert nasty confrontations, but try telling that to the folks in the world of Game of Thrones. They probably won’t concur, but that does not mean a pen is any less important in this fictional world where political and power struggles are like bread and butter to commoners. Or least, it is still important to fans of the series based on George R.R. Martin’s A Song of Ice and Fire series of fantasy novels. If the aforementioned holds true for you, a Game of Thrones fan, then Italian writing instrument maker Montegrappa has just the pen for you: The Game of Thrones WESTEROS Fountain Pen. Newly Discovered Ants Named After Game Of Thrones Dragons

Sometimes, research papers can be overly monotonous owning to their excruciating detailed analysis and reporting. That’s exactly how we feel whenever we read materials of such, but this one paper by Eli M. Samat, Georg Fischer and Evan P. Economo on the discovery of some new species of ants, entitled Inordinate Spinescence: Taxonomic Revision and Microtomography of the Pheidole cervicornis Species Group, managed to get our attention. While quite-a-mouthful, the paper’s title didn’t quite draw us to it; it was a report that points out that the researchers actually named two newly discovered species of ants after Daenerys Targaryen’s dragons from George R.R. Martin’s novel A Song of Ice and Fire, which was the basis of HBO series Game Of Thrones. Continue reading Newly Discovered Ants Named After Game Of Thrones Dragons

How do you draw attention to officially licensed Game of Thrones paper products like the limited edition collection notebooks? For Moleskine, it is to create the kick-ass Game of Thrones opening sequence with paper cutouts. And make no mistake here, there’s little animation involved even though the Milan-based studio behind it, Dadomani, is essentially an animation studio. The result is nothing short of awe-inspiring and while I was watching the video, I was kind of immerse in it, forgetting that the video isn’t the actual CGI opening sequence. Though, the opening soundtrack did help a little in that ‘immersion’ I spoke of. Continue reading Watch Game of Thrones Opening Sequence Recreated With Paper Art

Official Game of Thrones The Night’s Watch by Ulysse Nardin

obviously, the era where the Game of Thrones supposedly played out didn’t have wrist watch, but that hasn’t stop luxury watch maker Ulysse Nardin and HBO from collaborating on the Official Game of Thrones “The Night’s Watch” Watch. let see if we are getting it right here: so if the Night’s Watch were to wear a watch, it will be this Night’s Watch? anyway, the time piece is based on Ulysse Nardin’s “Black Sea” rugged diving chronograph and though it is the ‘official Game of Thrones’ watch, it has anything but subtle elements that points to that association and among them includes the show’s logo inscribed on the caseback, and two ceramic links in the time piece’s rubber strap engraved with “The Night’s Watch” the case and “I am the sword in darkness” above. so, no. it doesn’t have swords protruding out like the revered Iron Throne had. if it did, it would be a weapon – not a watch, and no doubt painful to your wrist. that would be silly, wouldn’t it? according to Torrent Freak’s Top10 List for 2012, Game of Thrones was last year’s most pirated US television series – a fact that’s hardly surprising considering that this fantasy action/drama based on George R. R. Martin’s A Song of Ice and Fire series of fantasy novels wasn’t made available to most parts of the world, but nevertheless, it doesn’t stop it from being crowned as one of the most watched series last year. regardless of which media outlet you are enjoying this epic fantasy production from (honestly, we don’t want to know either), chances are you are an epic fan and if you have like 30 grand to drop, you might want to score yourself one of these exact fiberglass replica of the notoriously intimidating throne to complete your Game of Thrones shrine.
