Looks like Lexus is going all out to drum up the hype on the new 2019 Lexus UX Compact Crossover. First, it roped in Matt Leinart to star in a campaign that applies UX’s safety tech to protect quarterbacks, and now this: asking designer John Elliot to design a set of custom tires inspired by John Elliot x Nike AF1 shoe. Yea. You read that right. Rubbers inspired by a pair of kicks. It may sound like a joke, but rest assure, this is as real as you and me. Lexus really knows how to tickle the hearts of American who mostly can’t enough of American Football with a gleeful solution to this season’s controversial “rouging the passer” rule. If you don’t already know, the “roughing the passer” rule is supposed to protect the quarterbacks from physical harm. “Roughing the passer” basically means “to make contact with passer (usually the quarterback) after the ball left the passer’s hands.” Continue reading Watch How Lexus Applies UX’s Safety Tech To Protect Quarterbacks
I bet you thought the Lexus Sport Yacht Concept was the last of seafaring vessel from Lexus. Well, the truth is, Lexus is far from over with watercraft. In fact, it is pretty pumped about putting Lexus onto the open waters. Just last month, it has unveiled a 65-foot luxury yacht called LY 650, but unlike the concept seen last year, it will be the first-ever Lexus production yacht and first to use L-finesse, the design language of Lexus, heralding a new era of luxury – Lexus style. Continue reading Lexus’ First Luxury Yacht, The LY 650, Is Set To Be Ready In Late 2019
The Lexus Sport Yacht Concept you see here may not be as wild as the spacecraft the Japanese luxury automaker dreamed up for Luc Besson’s sci-fi movie, Valerian and City of a Thousand Planets, it is at least, more down to earth. Nearly two years in the development, Lexus Sport Yacht Concept is the brainchild of Lexus Marine Department and it was a bespoke one-off project with no production intent. This particular example, a running proof-of-concept, was unveiled at Di Lido Island on Biscayne Bay, Miami Beach, Florida, last week. As far as car color goes, you are pretty much stuck to one option which, sometimes, you immediately regret the moment you drive out of the dealership. Wouldn’t it be nice if you could change it as and when you fancy? For now, your best bet of car with different color every time is with iridescent paint that appears in different shades when viewed from different angles. However, that could change in far future – thanks to Lexus. The Japanese luxury car maker has just planted a new notion with regards to changing color with this one-off IS which is covered in LEDs. Honda may have jet aircrafts now, but competing automaker Lexus just up the ante by dishing out a spacecraft. Ok, we exaggerated. It is not quite a real spacecraft per se, but a fictional one that will appear in Luc Besson upcoming sci-fi blockbuster Valerian and the City of a Thousand Planets. In fact, this spacecraft has a couple of fleeting moments in the teaser trailer released earlier in November. At 0:39 mark, a pair of the Lexus-branded spacecraft can be seen in the background and at 1:17 mark, one of the pursuit craft can be seen zipping through the space. Continue reading We Bet You Didn’t Expect Lexus To Designed A Spacecraft But It Did
It is not uncommon for automakers to team up with celebrities, fashion labels, and pop culture icons to roll out special edition rides, but not so much with food, let alone a hot sauce. Well, ‘not so much’ does not mean it will not happen because, it has happened and by the way of a 2017 Lexus Sriracha iS Sports Sedan. Yes, you read that right. Japanese luxury car maker Lexus and the world’s most famous hot sauce, Sriracha, has teamed up to roll out this chilli red ride to mark the launch of the 2017 Lexus iS sports sedan. As crazy as it may sound, 2017 Lexus Sriracha iS Sports Sedan is a thing and in case you have any doubt, you can check it out in person at Los Angeles Auto Show, starting November 18 through to November 27, 2016, where it will be on display. Continue reading Sriracha-infused 2017 Lexus iS Is Quite Literally The Hottest Car Right Now
How do you reiterate the point of “human craftsmanship skills” in making cars? I don’t know. Many ways, I guess? But for Lexus, it chose to collaborate with professional designers and modellers to produce a working replica of its electric IS sedan out of cardboards, well, at least majority of the part are. 1,700 based pieces of cardboard sheets were laser cut based on a digital model of the regular car and subsequently, pieced together using wood glue. The car is outfitted with an interior, functionally doors, headlights (yes, even those) and rolling wheels. Continue reading Lexus Unveiled a Drivable Electric IS Sedan Made out of… Cardboard
Remember the Lexus Hoverboard unveiled in June? Despite the skepticism, the hoverboard turns out to be a real deal. Yes. You heard that right. Back to the Future II kind of hoverboard is a reality, albeit hovering just slightly off the ground. A special skatepark called hoverpark was constructed to facilitate the testing of the hoverboard. The park the park combines elements from skate culture with technology within its architecture. Continue reading Lexus Hoverboard is Not Only Real, But it Can Hover Over Water too!
By now, we are all skeptics when it comes to hoverboard. Sure. We have seen a few ‘real-working’ examples like the record setting hoverboard, a magnetic levitation board that won’t work without metal underneath it and even a leaf blower-powered example. As real as they are, these ‘hoverboards’ are not quite the hoverboard we have imagined. Granted that the hoverboard in our imaginations is largely shaped by Back to the Future II, still, making a huge ding to get up and floating just doesn’t sound right. But that is set to change when Japanese luxury car maker Lexus unveils the Lexus Hoverboard, or so we read. Continue reading Wait, What? Lexus Has Developed a Real Working Hoverboard?
