This Is Sky Rider, A Semi-autonomous Flying Drone Designed By Pininfarina

celebrated Italian design house Pininfarina is a staple name in the autosphere and is no stranger to a slew of exquisitely designed marvels, ranging from pen to sports equipment to architecture, but a drone? well, that had to be the first for the firm. the drone, a quadcopter known as Sky Rider, is produced in partnership with DeAgostini Publishing and is aesthetically, what you expect from the Italian company: a streamlined body, almost akin to that of a sports car, and finished in the most appropriate color which you never would have thought appropriate for the sky (that’s red, if you still have had a clue). while we can’t say if aerodynamic is of the greatest importance to a quadcopter since rotor-induced turbulence existing virtually all-round, it is nice to see a sleek aircraft that would remind us of the question ‘what if Ferrari has an aircraft?’ Continue reading This Is Sky Rider, A Semi-autonomous Flying Drone Designed By Pininfarina

4.EVER Pininfarina Cambiano Inkless Pen

we bet imagining a pen of the future is not in the order of any creative person, geek or scientist, however, the folks over at Pininfarina begs to differ – the have came up with a revolutionary pen that requires no ink and will never need to be refilled. the Italian independent car design company and coachbuilder collaborated with Napkin to boldly re-imagine this writing instrument that might just revolutionize how we write (on paper, that is). aptly dubbed 4.EVER Pininfarina Cambiano Inkless Pen, this elegant piece of writing instrument, not surprisingly, draws its design inspiration from the firm’s Cambiano concept car, bearing elegant lines handcrafted by Italian master craftsmen from a combination of aluminum and wood. BMW Pininfarina Gran Lusso Coupe

what you see here is the very first collaboration between BMW and Pininfarina, dubbed the BMW Pininfarina Gran Lusso Coupe, unveiled at the prestigious Concorso d’Eleganza Villa d’Este 2013. as far as technical specs are concerned, there are none, except for the fact that under that longish bonnet, and behind that signature Beemer twin-kidney grille sits a V12 engine and it is rolling on exclusively designed 21-inch wheels. at first glance, we know it is a BMW, but yet it is decidedly un-BMW like as one could easily sense that someone other than the Munich folks have a hand or two with this luxury two-door coupe. the cabin of this four-seater luxury coupe has a driver focus cockpit where all driving-related functions and controls are subtly tilted towards the driver (like the good’ol sports cars of the nineties), while the rest of the interior receives handcrafted finest leather and 48,000-year-old kauri wood hailed from New Zealand. having four-seats and a four-wheel drive system doesn’t sound much like what Ferrari will do. on the contrary, that’s what the new Ferrari FF is: a four-seater, four-wheel drive supercar. don’t be deceived by the ‘FF’, which has absolutely nothing to do with ‘front-engine-front-wheel-drive’ but rather, it’s an acronym for Ferrari Four i.e. four seats and four-wheel drive.
