If you have been asking what’s next after folding phones… well, I think the answer is still folding phones but instead of bi-fold, it’s going on to tri-fold. How do we know that? Because, TECNO, the phone maker once only known in Africa, has shown off a concept tri-fold phone under its premium model line, Phantom, called Ultimate 2.
Of course, one company isn’t enough to say that it is the latest tech fad but get this: Huawei has teased the announcement of a tri-fold phone, tipped to be announced on September 10—a day after the Apple event of the year. Anyhoo, TECNO isn’t a stranger to “loud” tech; last year, the company also showed off a concept, a rolling screen device called Phantom Ultimate. However, that concept did not come to fruition.
Unlike rolling screen tech which isn’t as mature in the mobile space as folding display tech, the Ultimate 2 may not stay a concept for long. Yes. I am speculating but for good reasons. While information regarding the new tri-fold device remains scarce, we are expecting TECNO Mobile to make an official reveal of the concept phone at the upcoming IFA Berlin 2024 which will be happening between September 06 to 10.
