You would think that the next exciting feature on a smartphone would come from big companies like Apple, Samsung, or Xiaomi. But nope. The latest exciting news since folding phones and the under-display selfie cameras is from a brand you least expect or perhaps never ever even heard of.
It is from TECNO and the device is PHANTOM X2 Pro. TECNO PHANTOM X2 Pro is a striking device with a large camera module containing three cameras, one of which commands attention with its orange trim, and for good reasons. This camera pops not just because of the color; it literally pops.
The TECNO PHANTOM X2 is the first smartphone in the world to feature a retractable portrait lens that is “comparable to a professional camera.” This particular camera unit boasts a 50 MP 1/1.3-inch sensor with a large f/1.49 aperture and a 65 mm focal length and a 2.5x optical zoom retractable portrait lens.
2.5x optical zoom is nothing to shout about but to see it materialized like an actual camera is pretty amazing. A shallow 18.9 cm depth of field further aid in creating a stunning pure optical bokeh, resulting in breathtaking portraitures.
In addition to this 50 MP pop-out camera, it also has another identical 50 MP camera paired with a wide-angle lens and a 13 MP ultra-wide angle snapper. Around the front, it gets a 32 MP “ultra-clear” selfie camera.
Under the hood, it benefits from a 4nm process MediaTek Dimensity 9000 chip, backed by LPDDR5 and UFS 3.1 memories. A few other notable spec-sheet details include a 120 Hz 6.8-inch “Cinema-like Milk-smooth screen”, Corning Gorilla Glass Victus, 5,160 mAh battery, support for 45W Super Charge, 5G radios, and a beautiful unibody double-curved design, featuring “ergonomic golden grip angle” of 71-degree.
There are two designs to choose from. One of which is the world’s first 3.5D “Lunar Crater Dazzling Stained Glass” and the other is the original eco-friendly special edition featuring the world’s first renewable fiber back cover that contained over 50% recycled and 100% renewable materials derived from waste plastic bottles hauled from the Indian Ocean.
I know what you are thinking. How can it be 50% recycled and 100% renewable? But I think we all get the idea. I guess we just have to take the company’s word for it.
