just when i thought the heritage of budget roadsters are gone forever, then comes along a concept compact roadster from Toyota, dubbed the TES Concept T-Sports, unveiled recently at the Toyota Auto Salon. it is probably a sports roadster that sits somewhere between the Mazda MX5 and the Daihatsu Copen. how did this concept sports roadster came about? apparently, this prototype example was built by Toyota Engineering Society (TES), following up to a questionnaire that pitched the question on what sort of vehicles they thought Toyota needs to build.

so here it is, the TES Concept T-Sports, an affordable sports car. just how affordable it is and whether it will ever be built, remains to be seen. powering the front engine, rear-wheel drive roadster is a 1.3-liter 4-cylinder engine that pushes out 109 of ponies power – all in car that weighs under 2,000 pounds (907 kilograms). check out some awesome images of the T-Sports from Autoguide after the jump.
