As advanced and high-tech as the Tesla Model 3 is, it is, like the rest of the fleet under the electric car maker, without built-in wireless charger for your lovely small gadgets. It is odd indeed because, Tesla Motors is like the name for futuristic tech, but it is without this particular tech. Apparently, that is the one feature that Tesla owners would love to have in their trust electric stallion with some even resort to making one for their Tesla motor vehicles. Anywho, if you want wireless charging and do not have the know-how to put one together, fret not, because a start up is bringing to you the wonderful tether-free charging and it is called, well, Tesla Wireless Pad.
No, it will not charge your Tesla wirelessly. It is for your Qi-compatible phone. Billed as the Model 3 wireless charger that Tesla forgot, Tesla Wireless Pad exists so that you don’t have to summon the MacGyver in you; it is completely retrofitted for the Tesla Model 3 and blends seamlessly with the vehicle’s existing minimal interior. The generously sized wireless charging pad is capable of charging two Qi-compatible devices simultaneously and it is TPU-coated with enhanced grip to ensure the devices stay safely in place while the car in moving. Moreover, dual coil charging technology further ensures the phone will charge no matter the position it is placed.
Finally, a truly seamless integration of charging without the cumbersome docks and cables for Tesla, and it sure sounds like music to our ears. If realized, Tesla will (unofficially) join a host of other car manufacturers, including the likes of Audi, BMW, Chrysler, Ford, Hyundai, Mercedes-Benz and more, with integrated wireless Qi charging onboard their automobiles. It appears to be a DIY yourself kit which its creator said will require just “three easy steps” to install and best of all, it will cost just 99 bucks when it becomes available in April 2018.
