It has been ten since the first-generation Audi R8 GT debuted. Audi of America is marking this 10th anniversary with the new Audi R8 GT. The ride is limited to just 333 units worldwide – of which only 150 units are destined for the U.S. with consecutive numbering and exclusive content.
Billed as the most powerful RWD Audi yet, the 2023 Audi R8 GT is powered by a naturally aspirated 5.2L V10 engine that produces 602 horsepower and 413 lb-ft (560 Nm) of torque and boasts a new Torque Rear drive mode that enables precise and controlled oversteering on a track.
Mated to a 7-speed dual-clutch transmission that enables even faster shift times, the all-new R8 GT rockets from naught to 60 mph (97 km/h) in mere 3.3 seconds and on its way to a top speed of 199 mph (320 km/h).
The Audi R8 GT is as close as you can get to the R8 LMS racecar because it has an engine developed in parallel with the racecar, with only specific regulation adjustments made on the racecar. Plus, it is largely produced by hand at Böllinger Höfe and shares the same assembly line as the R8 LMS racecar.
Other highlights include LMS racecar-inspired lightweight 20-inch 10-spoke milled-cut forged wheels, Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 tires, ceramic braking system with red calipers, CFRP anti-roll bar with red anodized aluminum coupling, and lightweight R8 GT bucket seats finished in leather and Dinamica and integrated speakers from Bang & Olufsen – just to name a few.
The Limited Edition 2023 Audi R8 GT will start rolling into dealerships in 2023, with a starting price of US$249,900.
