2025 marks the 40th anniversary of Back to the Future, and Toyotomi, Japan’s kerosene stove wizard, has joined the celebrations by giving us something no time-traveling DeLorean could: cozy warmth. Meet the Toyotomi Back to the Future Kerosene Stove [JP], officially dubbed the RR-25BTTF.
Inspired by Doc Brown’s legendary time machine, this limited-edition stove is a compact round model dressed in a futuristic silver finish. The design features wiring-like accents and a burnished glow that would make even the DeLorean jealous. But the pièce de résistance? The glass panel showcases blueprint-style etchings of iconic BTTF elements, like the flux capacitor, that light up as the flames flicker. Now, that’s geekiness overload!
The front proudly flaunts the Back to the Future logo, blending retro vibes with a practical touch. With a heating output ranging from 1.25 to 2.5 kW, the stove warms up spaces as large as nine tatami mats (or approximately 150 sq. ft.). The 4.9-liter fuel tank means you can bask in its nostalgic glow for hours. Other modern-day perks include electronic ignition, odor-saving shutdown, and anti-quake safety features—because you never know when you might disrupt the space-time continuum.
Standing at 480 mm tall (about 18.9 inches) and weighing in at 6.2 kg (13.7 pounds), it’s compact yet heavy with style. Available now in Japan for 39,600 yen [JP] (about $270), it’s a must-have for fans looking to stay warm as they dream of roads where they don’t need roads. Unfortunately, it appears to be sold out at the time of this post. Ugh.
