Good news for Transformers fans who grew up in the late ’90s: Maximal Big Convoy, a.k.a. Mammoth Prime, has finally stomped out of Japan and into the global spotlight. Previously, a Prime (or Convoy, as they call him in Japan) with a mammoth alt mode was exclusive to Takara Tomy. But with the upcoming Transformers Age of the Primes Leader Class Maximal Big Convoy, the mighty mammoth has officially gone international.
Somewhere out there, Manny from Ice Age just nodded in approval. Ok. Obviously, there are not the same hairy prehistoric elephant, but damm, the artwork on the box does have some resemblance to Manfred.
Not going to lie, I’m thrilled—even if Beast Wars Neo aired when I was already a working adult who had traded toy shelves for office desks. Standing 6.5 inches (16.5 cm) tall, this Leader Class figure transforms from bot to mammoth in 29 steps, features non-removable tonfa on each forearm, and, for reasons known only to Hasbro’s design team, removable tusks.
The figure also boasts detailed deco inspired by its appearance in the Transformers universe and comes with seven accessories, including a cannon, matrix, blaster, and two Haken missile accessories. Basically, everything you’d expect from a Prime who could out-stomp Manny in a snowstorm.
The Transformers Age of the Primes Leader Class Maximal Big Convoy is set to drop on March 1, 2026, for US$59.99. Eager fans can already pre-order from HasbroPulse.com. Get yours before it goes extinct—you know, like actual mammoths. I still have the Takara Tomy’s Encore edition sealed-in-box, btw. It is such a precious to me. Whether or not this Hasbro variety will gain cult status remains to be seen.
