This is TRON Lightcycle Power Run, a thrill ride available at Shanghai Disneyland Resort. What makes this roller coaster so special is the roller coaster car which, as the ride name suggests, is really motorcycle, the TRON Lightcycle from the rebooted sci-fi flick TRON: Legacy. What this means is, you are exposed as you were riding an actual motorcycle and the exhilaration is further boosted by the fact that the riders will have to lean forward on their chest, in a near-prone position and head forward. There’s even handle bars on each ‘bike’ for you to hold on to your dear life.

With TRON Lightcycle Power Run, you are pretty much riding a motorbike, except the ‘wheels’ does not actually touch the tracks and they sure don’t roll. Also, you can’t throttle to control speed as you would on a real bike. As you ride, the train of TRON Lightcycle brings you on a journey through the virtual world of TRON in a semi-open environment, where you will be immerse in world of digital lights and 3D graphics, which kind what TRON is about anyways.

Along the journey, computer animation and colorful visual effects will serve to keep you enthralled, but at speeds hitting as fast as 60 mph (97 km/h), those fancy light works will probably be mere light trails. So, yeah, you get the speed, along with the thrill ride requisite dip and dive, and oh, there is, of course, appropriate sound effects to heighten the whole TRON-sation.
