Unihertz Atom XL DMR Walkie-Talkie Rugged Smartphone

If you are in the market for a “survivalist smartphone,” Shanghai-based Unihertz Atom XL may be right on your money. Building on the success of the original Atom, Atom XL is a compact 4-inch rugged smartphone that boasts a host of upgrades, including DMR walkie-talkie function.

DMR walkie-talkie smartphone itself isn’t common, let alone one that is this smallest and rugged. Its DMR Walkie-Talkie function has a range of up to 8 kilometers (about 5 miles) and can be use with BT or wired headset.

Atom XL is now powered by a Helio P60 chip with 2 GHz octacore processor, backed by 6 GB of RAM and 128 GB UFS 2.1 storage.

Other features include a 1,136 x 640 resolution 4-inch display, Corning Gorilla Glass, 48 MP main camera, an 8 MP front-facing camera, microSD card support, dual nano SIM card, fingerprint sensor, NFC, GPS/GLONASS/Beidou, infrared port, programmable key, Bluetooth 4.2, dual-band WiFi, USB Type-C and a 4,300 mAh battery that supports 2.0 fast charging.

Out-of-the-box, Atom XL gets the latest Android OS, Android 10, and it is sold unlocked with global LTE support.

Unihertz has once again taken to Kickstarter where if you so desire, you can pre-order the Atom XL for $239 or more.
