Vampirella is a classic that sent young men’s blood racing. Not sure if it still does today but if you are a fan, X Plus Vampirella Jose Gonzalez Edition 1/8 Plastic Model Kit Limited Edition is here to set your heart pumping and blood racing like you were in your teens.
The X Plus Vampirella Jose Gonzalez Edition 1/8 Plastic Model Kit Limited Edition is a Shonen-Ric Exclusive version which is the same as the regular Jose Gonzalez edition but with an alternate package design and comes with a display background, plus with colored parts.
For the uninitiated, José González involvement with Vampirella dated back to 1969 and he became the primary artist of the character starting with issue #12. This particular plastic model kit is based on the cover art by González’s Vampirella comic No. 19 “Super Special Issue” which in turn was based on the real-life Vampirella model, Carol de Haro.
This plastic model kit recreated the fine details of the hair and subtle musculature and features Vampirella with an outstretched hand and a bat perched atop. Completing the look is a thematic base that has a mound of bones and skulls. The skulls are in fact vampires.
When assembled, the model stands around 23 cm (9 inches). This being a model kit, it does come unassembled and unpainted. Recommended for ages 15 years and up.
The X-Plus Vampirella Jose Gonzalez Edition 1/8 Plastic Model Kit is available to order from now to November 21, 17:00 Hours (Japan Time) for 6,049 yen in Japan and 5,499 yen (around US$40) from the Shonen-Ric US website.
In related news, Shonen Ric Japan also tweeted the unpainted but assembled model of the Dracula plastic model kit. The Dracula model kit is based on Bela Lugosi’s portrayal of the blood-sucking count in the 1931 black-and-white film. The kit is officially licensed by Universal and is expected to be available for pre-order in spring 2023. The price is TBA.
