Before Project Helix comes along—which will not be happening anytime soon—Xbox wants to celebrate its 25 years in existence first. Part of the 25th anniversary celebration is, you guessed it, a special console. And mind you, Microsoft is not simply slapping a new color or a badge or two on the Xbox Series X|S.

Like how PlayStation celebrated its 30th anniversary with PS1-colored consoles, the Xbox Series X25 Console and Controller is a homage to the OG. That’s right, my friends, the translucent green look is back! Xbox said it is a subtle tribute to the first Xbox console, but trust me, to fans this is anything but subtle. It screams “OG!” and it looks great, too.
Based on the Xbox Series X Disc Drive Edition with 1 TB SSD storage, the console has been given the iconic translucent OG Green finish and a green-lit ‘X’ logo, a nod to the original Xbox startup sequence. In addition, this limited-edition Xbox console boasts the Xbox 25th Anniversary logo on the front, along with other design elements that celebrate Xbox fans and classic hardware designs.
And then there is, of course, the controller. The Xbox Wireless Controller X25 Special Edition, as it is called, is also given the OG Green aesthetic that allows the internals to be seen. From the original ABXY colors to the timeless green finish, every detail calls back to the beginning, right down to the bumpers honoring the original black and white buttons on the iconic “Duke” controller. The back case and battery door are fully transparent, revealing the classic Xbox logo.
The Xbox Series X25 Limited Edition and the Xbox Wireless Controller X25 Special Edition will be available together in select markets as a limited-edition collection in November. The controller will also be available separately. Pricing and pre-order details for both the console bundle and the standalone controller will be announced soon.
