Well, folks, we are at the year again. Sony PlayStation is 30 years old this year and you know what that means, don’t you? This means that the all-so-nostalgic grey of the original PS1 is here to make the new PlayStation 5 Pro and the updated PS5 feel nostalgic. Like the PS4, it kind of works, IMHO. I mean, they look great. Even better, the consoles are not alone in getting a splash of OG PS Grey. The PlayStation Portal Remote Player, the DualSense Edge Wireless Controller, and the DualSense Wireless Controller are getting the retro color treatment.
The 30th Anniversary PS5 Pro console comes with everything to tug at your nostalgic heartstrings—a DualSense wireless controller, DualSense Edge controller, and even a PS1-era connector cable housing (because apparently, we missed how clunky those things were—not that the console isn’t clunky than the OG). There are also some very… creative collector’s items. Nothing says “I’m a die-hard PlayStation fan” quite like a branded paperclip and some PlayStation-shaped cable ties.
Of course, there’s the digital version too for those who’ve gone fully disc-free, but it still brings the old-school vibes in a sleek, future-proof shell. For the truly dedicated, there’s even a limited edition PlayStation Portal Remote Player, just in case you want to relive the magic of being tethered to your console in yet another nostalgic but new way.
With only 12,300 of these PS5 Pro bundles etched with limited edition numbers, PlayStation has found a way to get both your retro and future selves excited. Oh, almost forgot to mention another key essence of these grey makeover PlayStation products; they bear the original logo too because they had to to complete the retro look and feel.
