Lets not beat around the bush with this one. Xiaomi has just announced a no nonsense budget handset, the Redmi Note 9S. The good news is, there’s no extreme curved display and no notch. Instead it has Samsung Galaxy S20 Series–isque display which is punctuated by a hole-punch 16 Mp selfie camera.

It has a large 6.67-inch FHD+ (2,400 x 1,080 pixels) TÜV Rheinland low blue light certified display and it has Corning Gorilla Glass 5 front and back, as well as on the square camera module.
Power is derived from a Qualcomm Snapdragon 720G Mobile Platform – a mobile gaming-centric chip that boasts an octacore processor with up to 2.3 GHz clock speed and Adreno 618 GPU. Also presence is Qualcomm 5th-generation AI engine.
Other spec sheet details include 4 GB RAM and 64 GB storage or 6 GB and 128 GB, side-mounted fingerprint sensor/power button, microSD slot (support up to 512 GB), dual SIM, dual-band WiFi, Bluetooth 5.0, GPS (A-GPS, Galileo, GLONASS, Beidou), 3.5 mm headphone jack, IR blaster, the usual bunch of sensors, and a 5,020 mAh battery with 18 W fast charging via USB-C port.
It does not have an IP rating, but Xiaomi said the device is splash proof.
