BLU, the premiere name in super affordable and unlocked smartphone, is back with a new G-series device called G9. G9, btw, is not related to LG G series and as such, it should not be confused with the South Korea handset’s flagship series. Anyways, BLU G9 is a big phone, or “regular size” by today’s standard. The HD+ “Infinity” display with a teardrop notch for the front-facing camera comes in at 6.3-inch and it has a fairly thin profile of 8.1 mm.
Speaking of display, we can’t help but to notice it has an unusually deep curve on its corners which looks odd and nice at the same time. Power comes from a MediaTek Helio P22 chip with octacore processor (8x ARM Cortex-A53 up to 2.0 GHz) and AI Accelerated Technology. Memory-wise, it has 4 GB of RAM and 64 GB onboard storage which is expandable up to 128 GB via microSD card.
It is a 4G LTE device, obviously, that boasts a dual camera setup (13+2 MP), a 13 MP selfie camera, 1080p videoing, a physical encrypted fingerprint sensor, and a 4,000 mAh battery with quick charge that gets it packed in under 2.5 hours. An interesting note about the main snapper here: BLU said the G9’s dual camera setup has a touch of AI that enables it up to 52 MP Super Zoom capability.

Using our Super Zoom feature, each pixel is increased to four, maximizing the clarity of each photo. Still on the imaging, it also boasts Portrait Mode as well as Night Mode. BLU G9 smartphone runs on Android 9.0 Pie and it is, as always, unlocked. Other worthy mentions include dual SIM, and support for Face ID, split screen multi-tasking, smart gestures as well as OTG charging.
BLU Products is selling the G9 on Amazon for, at the time of this post, a discounted price of $149.99. It is actually an extremely affordable asking price for a phone that is not too shabby in specs and no slouch in the looks department either.
