XREAL, formerly known as ‘Nreal’, introduces its latest augmented reality (AR) glasses, XREAL Air 2 Ultra. These sleek, titanium-framed glasses offer six degrees of freedom (6DoF) with dual 3D environment sensors for advanced spatial computing, rivaling products like Apple Vision Pro and Meta Quest 3. With an affordable price tag of $699 (US), XREAL Air 2 Ultra aims to excite the spatial computing developer community by being a cost-effective alternative to its competitors.
The XREAL Air 2 Ultra sports a high-definition viewing experience with Full HD for each eye, a 52° field of view, and 42 pixels per degree. It boasts a 120Hz refresh rate and 500 nits peak brightness for crisp and vibrant images in various lighting conditions. The device also supports virtual 2D screen casting equivalent to a 154-inch screen from 13 feet away and features cinematic-grade audio with directional technology for privacy.
Designed for developers, the glasses come with XREAL’s AR environment launcher Nebula and the latest SDK, focusing on spatial computing technology. Key features include simultaneous location and mapping, hand tracking, 3D mesh creation, semantic scene understanding, and potential future AI capabilities.
The XREAL Air 2 Ultra glasses are exceptionally lightweight at 80 grams and are TÜV Rheinland certified for eye comfort and quality. They support Apple’s spatial video feature and are compatible with various devices, including Mac, Windows laptops, Samsung Android phones, and iPhone 15.
