Daymak EC1 Carbon Fiber Electric Bike

Toronto-based electric bicycle maker is back, but this time round, there ain’t no beast. It newest product is a ‘regular’ electric bike, called EC1. Well, EC1 is not quite regular actually. It stands out as a ultra lightweight carbon fiber bike that weighs in at mere 34 lbs (or 15 kg) and for a limited time, can be yours to own for $1,039 CAD. That’s a heck of a bargain price for an electric bike and not to mention one that’s of carbon fiber construction.

Powering the EC1 is a 250W Brushless DC motor, integrated into the rear wheel, which is kept juiced by a 24V 8.7ah lithium-ion battery (36V 7.8ah on the Advance and Pro models). It has a range of 30 km (18.6 miles) without pedaling and can go up to 32 km/h (20 mph). Should you prefer to go all out manual (but why would you?), all you have to do is to remove the battery and replace the motorized wheel with the supplied regular wheel.

Other worthy mentions include 36V 14aH Intelligent Brushless Controller, Shimano 7-speed gear shift and derailleur, suspension fork, 700 x 38C – 29 Kenda tires, five levels of pedal assist and LCD display. As indicated, EC1 is offered in three flavors: EC1, EC1 Advanced and EC1 Pro. The latter two models differ mainly by the battery capacity and the number carbon fiber components, such as CF seat, CF fork et cetera (in addition to the frame).
