Well, fret not—Bandai Namco has you covered. Enter the 1/700 Scale Plastic Model Space Battleship Yamato [50th Anniversary Broadcast Produced by Anno Hideaki Version]. That’s right, my friends, the legendary Anno Hideaki—the mastermind behind Evangelion—has touched up this commemorative kit with fresh cosmic flair.
Originally bundled with the 2008 DVD box, this 38 cm (14.96 in) long and 12 cm (4.72 in) tall plastic ship returns with new molding colors and a custom box illustrated by Anno himself. It’s an ode to vintage sci-fi, now with added gravitas and sharper edges.
Preorders open March 15 and run through May 30, 2025, on A-on STORE [JP], Premium Bandai [JP], Yamato Crew [JP], and even the Evangelion Store [JP]. It’ll set you back 8,800 yen (about US$59), with delivery warping in on January 30, 2026.
