among the modern day American muscle cars, the Viper is perhaps the most defining one. no car buff will ever miss the instantly recognizable stretched bonnet and the fast back design that looks like it is ready to pounce in a moment’s notice. add in a big block and you have, well, a road going beast. what else? as if that isn’t enough, SRT, Chrysler Group’s Street and Racing Technology brand, has its hand on the latest iteration of the beast. dubbed the 2013 SRT Viper GTS Launch Edition, this coupe gets its power from a 8.4-liter V10 unit that pumps out a supercar-status 640 horsepower (477 kW) and makes more than 800 Nm (600 lb-ft) of torque. drawing inspiration from its predecessors (1996 and 2006, in particular), this coupe gets the iconic Viper treatment in the form of classic GTS Blue paint job, adorned with dual full-length stripes in bright white. the limited edition serpent further sets itself apart from the lesser kind with several key features, including five-spoke polished forged-aluminum rolling stocks, exclusive blue-backgrounded ‘Stryker’ badges on the hood and steering wheel, a serialized dash plague, and black Laguna leather with contrasting stitching throughout the inside, including the seats, door trim, instrument panel, steering wheel, grab handle, shift knob, as well as the center console. the 2013 SRT Viper GTS Launch Edition will make its appearance at the Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance over this weekend. as you might have guessed, no words on its pricing or availability as yet but we expect more information to be available during this weekend or at least, right after this weekend. in the meantime, click the jump a few more larger views of this awesome machine, courtesy of Chrysler Group.
