2020 MINI John Cooper Works GP

If you are still on the fence on whether to buy a Mini Cooper, well, I got to say, you might be doing yourself a huge favor because, there’s going to be an even faster and more powerful MINI John Cooper Works GP coming your way in 2020. Like, who knew procrastinating could be a good thing, right? MINI said the new JCW GP is faster, but it did not say how much faster, but we do know it is getting a 4-cylinder motor with MINI TwinPower Turbo Technology that puts out 300 horses – making it the fastest (?) and most powerful road-going MINI yet.

We also understand that this pocket rocket will have suspension develops to deal with the higher output and it boasts “rigorously defined aerodynamic properties and optimized weight.” Beyond those scant details, we do not what else this supposedly fastest and most powerful MINI has. Even the look is not clear. MINI only teases with a trio of photos that were framed closeup to certain part of the car. We saw a split roof spoiler with red inside and GP logo on at least one side, matte black alloy wheel with silver trim and red accent hub cap, and sleek, center twin exhaust pipes.

That’s all we see now. But the photos are enough to point towards a good sign that it is probably not going to be like the MINI JCW GP Concept we saw last year. Probably. That one there had way too many things going on the cosmetic end that makes look kind of messy. As we speak, the 2020 MINI John Cooper Works GP is being tested on its natural habitat, i.e. the track. No words on how much it will cost and when exactly it will be available yet.

But when it becomes available, there will be just 3,000 units to go around. So, if you want one badly, make sure you are on good terms with your local dealer’s sales person so he or she can hook you up with one once it is available. That’s assuming money is no object to you.
