Powered by an EU5 889cc liquid-cooled fuel injection (YCC-T), DOHC inline 3-cylinder with 4-valve-per-cylinder and featuring upgraded internal components, including lightweight forged pistons, the 2021 Yamaha MT-09 offers 117 HP and 69 lb-ft on the tap.
The powerful motor is mated to a 6-speed transmission and a stronger multiplate assist and slipper clutch enables it to cope with the new found power.
The new 2021 model also benefits from improved fuel efficiency (from 44 MPG to 49 MPG), new suspension featuring KYB inverted front fork and KYB rear shock, and lighter weight – contributed by the lightweight CF aluminum die-cast frame (which also boasts better rigidity), a redesigned lightweight, high-rigidity swingarm, and lightweight spin forged aluminum wheels.
Other technical highlights include new symmetrical muffler, Transistor Controlled Ignition, dual 298 mm hydraulic disc, 245 mm hydraulic disc, and ABS all-round.
