There’s a “super” for everything sort of vehicle. There is superyacht, superbike, superquad, supertruck, supercar, and now, there is, ermmm, super tourer too? Well, at least that’s what Aston Martin is referring to the just-announced all-new Aston Martin DB12.
The Aston Martin DB12 Super Tourer heralds a new era for Aston Martin as the first of its next-generation sports cars. The silhouette of the Aston Martin DB is unmistakable. It has the British marque’s signature strong, wide stance dilated with a 6 mm front and 22 mm rear increase in track. It has a bold and assertive design that is a pure delight to see.
Powering Aston Martin’s newest sports car is a 4.0L V8 twin-turbo motor that produces a best-in-class output of 680 PS (671 hp) and 800 Nm (590 lb-ft) of torque. Power is fed through an 8-speed automatic transmission and an electronic rear differential (E-Diff) – the first ever for a DB model, allowing this exotic ride to rocket from 0-62 mph (100 km/h) in just 3.6 seconds and on its way to a top speed of 202 mph (325 km/h).
The E-Diff is linked to the ESC and unlike conventional LSD, it can go from fully open to 100% locked in milliseconds, offering the driver the maximum response for more precise and consistent handling. Speaking of handling, the new DB12 is set up with double wishbone suspension, and intelligent dampers that, together with the E-Diff and Aston Martin bespoke 21” Michelin Pilot Sport 5 S tires, let you attack corners with confidence.
On the inside, it boasts an all-new intelligent cockpit featuring a perfect blend of analog and digital, voice activation, and the highest-definition touch screen in its class. The first deliveries of the 2024 Aston Martin DB12 Super Tourer will begin in Q3 2023. However, I don’t believe the pricing has been revealed.
