Good news, fans of classic Transformers. Takara Tomy has officially revealed two new Transformers Masterpiece transforming action figures, namely, Skids and Reboost. Yes. THAT Skids; NOT the messed up Bayverse’s version. The Transformers MP-53 Skids and MP-54 Reboost transforms into a Honda City Turbo and Honda City R, respectively – as seen in the original cartoon series.
Like any good Takara Tomy Transformers Masterpiece, the respective vehicle modes are produced under license from Honda Motor Co., Ltd. Dope. I have always liked 80s Honda City and to have it realized in accurate form and a transforming figure, is needless to say, pretty exciting.
Both toys will sell for 10,780 yen (about US$98) each when it becomes available in November 2021. Speaking of the price… this is the part I am absolutely baffled. While both has the same retail price, the beloved Skids has less accessories than Reboost.
As far as accessories go, MP-53 will come with get two weapons – an arm cannon and a dual-barreled gun, but MP-54 has a little more love. It has got 2 guns, a dual-barreled gun, plus a couple extras: a small Honda Motocompo and an articulated rider.
The Honda Motocompo can fit into the trunk of MP-54 while the miniature figure can fit into the cabin. Meanwhile, the MP-53 can utilize the trunk for weapon storage.
Seriously, am I the only who are puzzled by the discrepancies in accessories for the two identical priced toys?
Anywho, both the Takara Tomy Transformers Masterpiece MP-53 Skids and MP54 Reboost are available to pre-order in Japan from Takara Tomy as well as Amazon Japan.
