Mijia Portable Coffee Machine
Already a player in home coffee machines, Xiaomi now wants to accompany your caffeine cravings wherever they strike with a compact coffee maker that supports capsules and ground coffee and brews in just 45 seconds.

Xiaomi, and by extension, Mijia, has every aspect of your life covered. Coffee is certainly not new territory for the company, either. But while previous Mijia coffee machines expected you to stay put, this latest one wants to follow you wherever you go. Folks, meet the new Mijia Portable Coffee Machine.

Mijia Portable Coffee Machine

Standing 24.5 cm (9.6 inches) tall and measuring just 7.15 cm (2.8 inches) across, this little cylinder looks more like a fancy thermos than something capable of brewing coffee. Yet tucked inside are three 2,500 mAh batteries, enough to power a 20-bar electromagnetic pump and a 92°C ceramic heating system.

The Mijia Portable Coffee Machine supports both coffee capsules—which the company also sells, btw—and ground coffee, so you are not locked into a single ecosystem. It can brew hot espresso with hot water or whip up a refreshing iced Americano-style drink with cold water. Either way, extraction takes around 45 seconds.

Charging is handled via USB-C with 45 W fast charging support. Xiaomi says it takes just 30 minutes to go from 20% to 80%, and you can even top it up with a power bank. Which means your morning coffee emergency no longer has to be limited by wall outlets.

As for the price, Xiaomi has kicked off crowdfunding for the Mijia Portable Coffee Machine on June 17 in China for 559 yuan [CH], which works out to around US$78. And did I mention that this portable coffee maker is an absolute eye-candy?

In the past, Xiaomi’s crowdfunding platform was known as Youpin and was freely accessible. It looks like it is strictly app-only access, which I do not have.
