A Bathing Ape has revealed a new collaborative collection with the late King of Pop, Michael Jackson. The A Bathing Ape x Michael Jackson Collection includes apparel featuring iconic images of Michael Jackson, as well as a BAPE-style iteration of the superstar.
There is one long sleeve and one crew neck in the collection too. But if we can be honest, the stars of the show aren’t the tees. True fans will want this: BAPE X Michael Jackson Varsity Jacket which is a recreation of the jacket Michael wore in the Thriller music video.
It is not an exact replica; it is a recreation with a BAPE twist. Each of the jacket sleeves now rocks the BAPE lightning patch and on the front, alongside the M letter, is the BAPE’s monkey head logo. BAPE’s label can be further found on the elastic waistband.
There is another addition to the original design; the letter M has “ichael” in it. Those are not it. Around the back, you can find Michael’s full name spelled out, along with A BATHING APE branding.
The jacket has a limited run of just 50 pieces, each going for a cool 143,000 yen (around US$955). Speaking of the edition, the edition number XX/50 is stitched on each piece.
The tees are for men and kids and will sell for 9,900 yen and 7,150 yen (US$66 and US$48), respectively. Meanwhile, the L/S tee goes for 12,100 yen (US$81), and the crewneck commands 25,300 yen (US$169). The crewneck is available for kids too and it will run you back at 16,500 yen (US$110).
