Apparently, Shrek has decided to leave his humble swamp abode in the care of his trusty pal, Donkey. Shrek may believe Donkey is swamp-sitting for him but Donkey is making full use of this opportunity to roll out the welcome mat to hose fairytale creatures – or maybe just you – while he is in charge.
And oh, where is this swamp, you ask? Well, it is located in a mud-laden, moss-covered, murky-watered swamp among the rolling hills of Scotland, United Kingdom. And no, the Shrek from the 2001 DreamWorks’ hit animated feature is not Scottish but he does have a tinge of Scottish accent because dear old Mike Myers loves Scottish people, or so we heard…
The Airbnb Shrek’s Swamp is a perfect replica of the swamp the hero ogre calls home in the animated film. It has everything you have come to expect; overgrown landscaping, charmingly rustic interiors, nice boulders, and it even has the iconic outhouse aka bathroom with the toilet, shower facilities, sink and all, that is located 20 meters (66 feet) away outside of the main living area. How’s that for authentic ogre living?
But you will not be living like savages, well, not completely as you will see. There are some modern amenities, like heating, smoke alarm, carbon monoxide alarm, fire extinguisher, and first aid kit. However, you’d be living like a true ogre with no Wi-Fi, TV, washer, and air-conditioning. Instead, here are the suggested things to do while you are there:
– Relax in the ambiance of “earwax candlelight”
– Kick your feet up with a parfait (everybody likes a parfait!)
– Swap stories around the fire until late in the night
– Enjoy a stack of freshly made waffles in the morning
– And of course, enjoy the ultimate privacy of Shrek’s trusted outhouse (you know the one)
You will need to bring your own hair dryer if you need to use one because there isn’t one provided and while the accommodation does provide you with towels, bed sheets, soap, and toilet paper, it does not supply guests with shampoo. So take note. But those are the least of your worries. Why? Well, here’s why:
