Just when many European automakers have changed their direction with regard to electrification, Alfa Romeo came along and revealed its very first EV: the Alfa Romeo Milano. The Italian marque’s first EV assumes the form of a compact SUV but never mind whether it is an EV or not because the Alfa Romeo vibe is unmistakable.
The Alfa Romeo Milano may have a more futuristic front fascia but it is not far off from the iconic Alfa Romeo’s look. We love how the cross of the municipality and the Visconti serpent of the automaker’s logo are integrated into the front as the grille. This is in addition to the requisite badge on the hood, btw.
Exactly what is the electric motor that powers it is not known. We do know that there are two electric power variants: a 156 HP version with 260 Nm of torque and a sportier 240-hp VELOCE model that has a beefier 345 Nm of torque. Both variants will be outfitted with a 54 kWh battery good for up to 250 miles (402 kilometers) range.
While we are the Milano Veloce… it is worth noting that it further features a mechanical self-locking differential, the most direct steering ratio in its class, a widened wheel track with specific front and rear anti-roll bars, sports suspension and braking system, and 20-inch wheels.
In addition to the unique design elements, the new Milano features a 400-liter boot capacity and advanced tech for comfort and connectivity. The latter two are pretty much what today’s EV is about.
If anyone residing in the U.K. is interested, orders for the Milano open in early summer. Price is to be announced. Meanwhile, you may learn more about the first Electrica from Alfa Romeo HERE [UK].
