When Apple Vision Pro debuted, it became the target of memes. But that quickly dies down. It looks like it is time to revive the parodies and memes because Apple just doubled down on its pretty useless computer on your face with a new model with a more powerful processing chip. Folks, meet the new Apple Vision Pro, now upgraded with the powerful M5 chip and comfy Dual Knit Band. Seriously, is anyone buying this? Anyhoo…

So what does strapping the “world’s fastest CPU core” to your face do for you? Well, the M5 chip brings a 10-core CPU, a next-gen 10-core GPU with hardware-accelerated ray tracing, and a 16-core Neural Engine that makes AI-powered features run up to 50% faster than before. Translation: your Persona now loads quicker, your meme-worthy floating apps look sharper, and your 3D cat videos render with even more fur detail. Apple even claims up to 120Hz refresh rates on those micro-OLED displays, so motion blur gets reduced — handy when you’re staring at a 100-foot virtual screen in your living room.
Apple didn’t just soup up the silicon. It finally admitted the original Vision Pro’s fit wasn’t ideal for marathon meme-watching sessions. Enter the Dual Knit Band, with a fancy dual-rib design and tungsten inserts to balance the load. It’s basically the orthopedic shoe of headbands, making the face computer slightly less awkward to wear in public.
As always, Apple dressed the update with fresh visionOS tricks. You now get widgets in your space, spatial scenes that give your old photos fake depth, and new immersive NBA games because, of course, Apple wants you courtside without leaving your couch.
The new Apple Vision Pro with M5 chip and Dual Knit Band is available for pre-order now, starting at US$3,499.
