i guess Barnes & Noble hasn’t given up the idea of trying to give Amazon a run for their money. it has unveiled their latest ebook reader, the Nook Simple Touch Reader. i am not a fan of ebook reader but the smaller and more compact form-factor of Nook Simple Touch Reader is pretty enticing. well, except for the exceptionally large frame, else it looks awesome. it features a 6-inch e-ink touchscreen, 2GB storage capacity, microSD slot (expandable up to 32GB) and WiFi (b/g/n) connectivity.

the Nook Simple Touch Reader’s 6″ screen of 800 x 600 pixels resolution is touted to have the “most advanced E-Ink display” that’s able to display crisp text even under bright sun. it also boost incredible battery life of 2 months of usage per charge. the Nook measures just 6.5″ x 5″ x 0.47″ (165 x 127 x 11.9 mm) and weighs in at 7.48 ounces (212 grams). just about the size of a typical paperback novel which is really compact, though i still can’t get over the thicker than usual frame.

the Nook Simple Touch Reader from Barnes & Noble is now open for pre-order at $139 a pop.
